Group Exhibition
July 2024, Seoul
In my work, I reflect on life as something always in the making — a space where the mind and body are in quiet conversation, continuously breaking and returning to each other. I see this exchange as the rhythm of living.
I imagine the inner world as a place shaped by illusion, where reality and thought are layered like veils. Inspired by Plato’s idea that reality is an imitation of the ideal, I began to wonder: are our thoughts themselves illusions of illusions? So often, we are moved — even wounded — by things that may not be real at all.
The flower that appears in my paintings is a symbol of belief. Its cycle of blooming and fading in the rain feels like a quiet kind of faith — one that speaks to the fragile persistence of the self across time.
As I prepared for this show, I found myself in an unexpected moment of self-adjustment. I believe we all carry an inner garden. And in tending to that space — nurturing the beliefs that bloom within — we begin to care for ourselves with patience and clarity.
